Xi Urges CPC to Strengthen Internal Party Discipline

The Chinese president urged party officials to strengthen internal discipline, reinforce accountability, and advance anti-corruption efforts.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on the Communist Party of China (CPC) to maintain full and rigorous self-governance, stressing the importance of strengthening party discipline, leadership and anti-corruption efforts.

Xi, who also serves as general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks at a gathering in Beijing on Wednesday marking the 105th anniversary of the Party's founding.

In his address, Xi urged officials to fully implement the Party-building principles introduced in the new era and continue improving the CPC's long-term governing capacity. He said the Party must preserve its advanced character and integrity while maintaining close ties with the Chinese people.

Xi emphasized the need to strengthen the Party's system of comprehensive self-governance by reinforcing discipline, enhancing internal oversight and improving Party-building across all levels. He also called for continued efforts to combat corruption, describing the fight against corruption as a key priority in ensuring the Party's long-term stability and effectiveness.

The Chinese leader said stronger political leadership is essential to keeping the CPC at the core of China's development and governance. He added that maintaining a disciplined and unified Party would support the country's broader goal of advancing socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.

The event brought together senior Party leaders and officials to commemorate the CPC's 105th founding anniversary. Xi used the occasion to reiterate the leadership's focus on strengthening internal governance, improving accountability and preserving the Party's central role in guiding China's political, economic and social development.
