China and Pakistan reaffirmed their close strategic partnership on Monday, as Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi described the friendship between the two countries as “rock-solid” and “unbreakable” regardless of changing international or regional circumstances.
Wang made the remarks during a meeting in Beijing with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Syed Asim Munir, who is visiting China alongside Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Chinese foreign minister emphasized that the relationship between Beijing and Islamabad has consistently been marked by strong political trust, practical cooperation, and close coordination on international affairs.
According to Wang, the partnership between the two countries has become a model for state-to-state relations. He also praised the role of the Pakistani military in advancing bilateral cooperation, saying it has long been an important force in strengthening ties between the two nations. Wang expressed confidence that Pakistan’s armed forces would continue contributing to the development of the longstanding friendship and broader strategic cooperation.
During the meeting, Wang also highlighted the importance of China’s major international initiatives, including the Belt and Road Initiative and Beijing’s broader global development and security proposals. He said these initiatives have played a significant role in promoting global peace, economic growth, and international cooperation, while gaining broad support from countries around the world.
Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for these Chinese-led initiatives, stating that Islamabad remains committed to actively participating in them. He said the Pakistani military would continue supporting efforts to build what both sides describe as a China-Pakistan community with a shared future. Munir also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, a major infrastructure and investment project considered central to economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Pakistani army chief also briefed Wang on recent diplomatic efforts related to tensions between the United States and Iran. According to Munir, negotiations aimed at easing the conflict are nearing an agreement, and Pakistan is prepared to continue playing an active mediating role. In response, Wang said China appreciates and supports Pakistan’s efforts to help reduce tensions and encourage dialogue.
The meeting underscored the deepening strategic relationship between China and Pakistan at a time of growing geopolitical uncertainty in the region.
